2007 AWARD RECIPIENTS

In 2007, Toledo Public Schools Foundation awarded a record $70,500 at Salute to Scholars: A Celebration of Learning for 58 college scholarships to 44 TPS graduating seniors and grants to five TPS educators for innovative classroom projects. To all of our scholarship and grant donors, we say thank-you. For them, you made a difference, a difference that will last a lifetime!

EDUCATORS

Joyce A. Gaff, an educator at Larchmont Elementary School; $1,000 for “Fair is Fair,” a project designed to teach concepts of justice, democracy, and social awareness for K-3.

Emmajo Gray, an educator at Harvard Elementary School; $1,000 for “Visit from Pewabic Pottery,” a project for sixth graders to work with a group of craftsmen from The Education and Design Studio with Pewabic Pottery in Detroit.

Kathryn Maunz, an educator at Ottawa River Elementary School; $1,000 for “Micro Society,” a project utilizing writing, reading, math, and social studies skills in a unique micro-society.

Amy McLoughlin, an educator at Bowsher High School; $1,000 for “Intervention for Underachieving Freshmen,” a project that equips struggling students with the tools necessary to succeed in school.

Barbara Schuele, an educator at Whittier Elementary School; $1,000 for “The Reading Edge,” a research project designed to meet the needs of young adolescent readers for high-achieving students.
